John Cottone has been a faculty member at SUNY Cortland
since 1985 and since that time, has functioned as the Program Director for the
nationally accredited athletic training program.
From 1985 to 2000 he also served as the Head
Athletic Trainer.
In 2002, he was
appointed chairman of the Department of Exercise Science and Sport Studies and
now Kinesiology.
He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical
Education in 1970 from Castleton State College where he also played lacrosse.
He earned his Master of Science in Physical Education with specialization in
Athletic Training from Indiana State University
in 1976 and his Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Syracuse University in 1996.
