Certification Course Outline

How it works:

    1. First check the map  for classes near you or email info@youthsportsny.org.
    2. Call toll free 877-828-8811 to train a group of 20 or more coaches/parents.
    3. Then register with a SUNY Community College, Level 1 costs $20.00.
    4. Attend a 3 hour on-site training clinic conducted by SUNY YSI Trainer at a SUNY Community College.
    5. Within 45 days of the class, study the nine modules - one at a time - then complete the short online exam for each section. Take each exam as many times as you like. A score of 70% is required in each module to successfully complete and obtain a Youth Sports NY Level I coaching certification.
    6. In the mail receive your registration number, Youth Sports NY ID Lanyard and special access to discussion forums, sport specific drills and other resources at www.youthsportsny.org.
    7. Pledge to maintain the common language of minimum standards set forth by the SUNY Youth Sports Institute.

     

    Level 1 Youth Sports NY Coaching Certification

    Requirements: a.) Passing the Youth Sports NY Coaching Examination

    For a volunteer youth coach, practices can be a real challenge. The coach needs to know the high - energy drills that keep young players interested - while teaching them new skills. Once you register for your three-hour Youth Sports NY classroom session, you receive password access on this website to outstanding coaching techniques, drills and youth sports ideas. Added to the lessons from your Level I Coaching Certification Course, this sport specific content will help you combine the fun and challenge at practice that players and coaches are looking for.

    Introductory Price: $20.00 for the Level I Youth Sports NY Coaching Test Certification Course.

    Level 2 Youth Sports NY Coaching Certification  

    Requirements:   a.) Youth Sports NY Coaching Examination
      b.) Coaching First Aid Certification

    Many municipalities and youth sports leagues/programs wish their coaches to have a higher level of youth sports knowledge and competence.  After completing the Youth Sports NY classroom and online requirements in Level l, youth coaches interested in becoming a Youth Sports NY Level II Certified Coach will be required to submit evidence of a Red Cross (or similar) First Aid for Youth Coaches training.

    Level 3 Youth Coaching Certification Course

    Requirements:  a.) Youth Sports NY Coaching Examination
      b.) Coaching First Aid Certification
      c.) Background Check through Sport League or Municipality 


    In addition to the first aid requirements of Level 2, a Level 3 SUNY Youth Coaching Certification also requires a background check through the program recommended by your league or municipality.
