Jerry Casciani is presently in his seventeenth year as Chair of the Physical Education Department at SUNY Cortland.  Jerry is a 1954 graduate of Lewiston-Porter High School where he participated in varsity football, basketball, baseball and track.  He earned his B.S. degree from Springfield College in 1959 where he participated in varsity football.  Jerry earned his M.Ed. degree from The Pennsylvania State University in 1960 and his Ed.D. degree from West Virginia University in 1980.

Prior to arriving at SUNY Cortland in 1970, Jerry taught physical education and coached an aggregate of four sports in public schools and junior colleges.  Before becoming Department Chair in 1990, Jerry served SUNY Cortland as an assistant coach in football, wrestling and lacrosse and was the head lacrosse coach from 1984 - 1990. Jerry has coached youth sports in baseball and lacrosse and served as president of the Cortland Youth Hockey organization for three years.  Jerry plans to retire from full-time service at SUNY Cortland in August, 2008.
