Don't change youth sports because of parents

BOLIVAR -
For years, Bolivar-Richburg has had a Youth Football program that allowed all children to play.  Not just the athletic ones, but also for the children whom might never get the chance to play! I am very proud of our B-R Youth Football program but now I hear that some parents want to change that!!

PLEASE DON’T!!

Many of our youth have played in the Youth Football program, and this program has given the opportunity to others who may not be so lucky, with the natural ability, to play the sport.  This program gives these children at least 8 plays in the game.  Granted, some parents want to see their kids play the whole game, but remember, other parents want to see their children play too. Bolivar-Richburg is the ONLY community that allows all children to play!! We do not have to TRY OUT for our football team.

When our children are as young as 8 years old, and are out on that field, this program was designed as a learning tool for all. Giving them a chance to learn. Please let our Football program stay as it has been, for as long as I remember (and we are talking at least 15 years!). Our children have the greatest ability to learn from this program. Our children would not have become the “Section V  Player of Week” on defense or offense if they had not learned from the football program that has been going strong for years!  Of course our children want to win, but winning is not everything! Winning is for Varsity, not for Pee-Wee, Pony, or Midgets! I do have to agree that winning is wonderful!! That is why we, as parents, have to take the time to teach our children that losing is part of the game. We also have to teach them, that at a young age, they have to respect that other kids might not be as good as they, but THEY have a right to be out on that field also!
